Do something great - volunteer!
There are lots of ways that you can volunteer to help keep North East Essex healthy...
Become a Youth Health Champion
As a Youth Health Champion, you would promote healthy living to students in secondary schools. This role includes giving them information about being overweight, the benefits of exercise, drug and alcohol misuse and how to deal with exam stress.
You would be supporting NHS Health Trainers in North East Essex, who are employed to provide individual health assessments, create personal plans and offer one-to-one support.
For more information, call 0800 731 3133 or email healthtrainers@acecic.nhs.uk
Be an activity buddy!
Several clients who work with NHS Health Trainers want to be more active but are nervous about making the first trip to the gym, pool or exercise class. If you can help, contact Trish at Health Champs on 01206 288572.
Provide breastfeeding support for other young mums
If you are a young mum, you can become a breastfeeding supporter in your area. Breastfeeding supporters are mums who have breastfed their babies - some of whom who have experienced difficulties and would now like to help others become more confident and at ease with breastfeeding. If you are interested, call 01255 670155 or go to http://www.northeastessex.nhs.uk/Provider%20Services/breastfeeding-support-project.htm
